Surround Sound is an immersive audio experience encoded into movies, music, video games and many other audible content that comes from your AV Receiver. A surround sound system starts with a front left - center - right speakers set up that includes a left and right rear speaker and sub-woofer. The center speaker is the most active broadcasting voice and the "main audio" while the remainder of the speakers play the "sound around" the scene. This can be planes flying overhead, someone walking up from behind or even dogs barking in the background. You hear all these little details coming from all different  angles "around" you. Adding more speakers means adding more detail. The sub woofer is what delivers the earth pounding bass and gives that low boom in explosions. They add an amazing amount of emotion to a scene.
